London -- The Cotswolds -- Paris
May 15-29, 2005
This looks like something out of Star Trek, doesn't it? Well, it was our hotel for our final night in Paris. We stayed at the Sheraton at CDG -- inside Terminal 2. Cost: 10,000 Starwood points. We took a taxi to the hotel and checked in around 9:00 pm. Our driver did not speak English and my ten words of French came in handy. We could see the hotel from the road, but couldn't find a way to reach it. We finally had the taxi driver deposit us inside the Terminal 2 parking garage. Nowhere did we see signs for the hotel -- not on the roads leading to the airport and not inside the terminal. Even with a lot of traffic the price for the taxi was no more than a shuttle would have cost for the two of us.
The best way I can describe the Sheraton is to say it's modern, and at night it's dramatic. When we exited the elevator to our floor we felt like we were on a space ship. Our room was wonderful: spacious, lots of storage and drawer space, great bathroom with separate tub and shower stall, very comfortable beds, and great sound-proofing. Needless to say, we were impressed. In the morning, the hotel provided a driver to take us to Terminal 1 at no charge.
As much as we would have enjoyed staying longer, it was time to head back to Southern California. But then, we know we'll be back.
